Supporting rainbow and takatāpui communities to flourish

The Rule Foundation provides grants for activities that seek to advance the health, wellbeing and visibility of rainbow, takatāpui & MVPFAFF+ communities in Aotearoa.

Funding available through the Rule Foundation

The Peter Rule Fund was founded from the estate of Peter Rule in 1987. The focus of this fund is on activities that advance the general health, wellbeing and visibility of the LGBTI community as well as for education and research initiatives. Grants from this fund are usually between $250 – $5000. Applications are open all year around.

The Rainbow Wellbeing Legacy fund was founded in 2019 through a $1 million endowment from the New Zealand Government in recognition of the men who were convicted for consensual homosexual activities pre-1986. The focus of this fund is to support activities that focus on improving mental health outcomes for future generations of rainbow communities, especially young people.

The Foundation North Fund is for projects that aim to address a need in takatāpui, MVPFAFF+ and rainbow communities in Tāmaki Makaurau (Auckland) and Te Tai Tokerau (Northland).
