The Rule Foundation is a registered charity which seeks to advance the health, wellbeing and visibility of Rainbow, Takatāpui & MVPFAFF+ people in Aotearoa, New Zealand. The purpose of the Peter Rule Fund is to support projects and activities that uplift these communities, and for education and research on issues these communities face. To apply, please complete this application form. Please note that we do not fund individuals or commercial activities. Note also that our approach is to fund project-based activity; we do not fund operational costs.

The Peter Rule Fund contributes grants of up to $5,000 (or more in exceptional circumstances) to projects, activities and organisations within the following criteria: 

  • The activity is a project which has a specific purpose, timeframe, and resource requirement

  • The project aligns with the Foundation’s purposes and priorities

  • The project addresses an identified need of the Rainbow, Takatāpui and/or MVPFAFF+ community 

  • The applicant has demonstrated their ability to deliver the project

  • The availability of funds and alternative funding sources to the applicant.

Total granting will be $80,000 for the 2024/25 financial year (1 April 2024 to 31 March 2025)

Please note that the Foundation does not fund individuals - while we don’t necessarily require an organisation to be a legal entity (i.e. an incorporated society or charitable trust), we do require that the bank account donations are paid to are in the name of the organisation, and not an individual. Larger organisations may also act as fund holders for smaller initiatives.
