PM Jacinda Ardern announces the Rule Foundation will administer the Rainbow Wellbeing Legacy Fund
Rule Foundation Trustee David Reeves with PM Jacinda Ardern and Minister for Finance Grant Robertson at the BGO 2020
Originally announced in June 2019, the Rainbow Wellbeing Legacy Fund was established as an acknowledgement of those New Zealanders who were convicted for homosexual acts before the law was changed in 1986. In 2017 the Government apologised to them and in 2018 passed a law to allow for convictions to be expunged.
After feedback from the Rainbow community and some months of negotiation, today Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern and Minister of Finance Grant Robertson announced on the stage at the 2020 Big Gay Out that the Rule Foundation would administer the Rainbow Wellbeing Legacy Fund on behalf of the government.
